Houndshow Championship Show 2021 Critique

What a success, the show committee did a fantastic job, making everyone feel safe and comfortable.  They even managed to order some fantastic weather. Many thanks to my two kind and helpful stewards

It was a pleasure and honour to make up two new Champions.  Mr and Mrs G Bailys Greyflax Pearls a singer, Mr and Mrs J Grimshaws Greyflax Diamond Joe at Jamalison, both from the same litter bred by Mr and Mrs G & N Bailey, the bitch res cc is also from the same litter, the breeder and owners must be very proud!  Well done.

I also want to thank the exhibitors that kindly came under me during the restrictions.

The dogs I judged were of good quality and presented in healthy and great condition. However, I did find a few teeth that need a little attention. Some heads had a bit more of a stop than the standard calls for in my opinion. Eye colour good generally. I did feel a few eyes did not have the depth to the colour. I felt Movement was generally good.

Minor puppy bitch

1 Barretts Stranwith Tregona, A lovely cuddly dark baby at her first show.  I just wanted to get my hands on her.  Correct head with neat small ears, very curvy, just as you would want in a puppy of this age, she moved well.

1 Taylors Proud Celtic Queen D’Escalgrain for Ormanstar, the Queen of this class, liked her head and expression, she has a better front than 2 and 3 neater bitch all round, fall away well placed. Lovely movement.

2 Baileys Greyflax Talluah Lilac head more feminine than 1 but eye colour not quite as dark as 1. Like 1 good balance through the body, but not as positive on the move today.

1 Baileys Greyflax Pearls a Singer and Pearl sang today! I have liked this bitch from her first class, and she did not disappoint me. Great head and expression, pleasing neck into good shoulder and upper arm, well-made quarters, liked her leg length to body ratio. Move well and happily.   CC BOB and pleased to see her pulled out in the group.

2 Quinton Kilbourne Louisa Chick at Kirjojax This bitch surprise me as to how much she has come on during the Covid lock downs. Slightly better body length, but not quite the angulation of one, again a lovely mover. Considered for the res CC.

3 Shannon Erewhon Firefly

Open bitch 2-1

Grimshaws Greyflax Ruby at Jamalison very much like her sister 1 in above class, pleasing head and expression neat ears, strong neck and shoulders into upper arm of balanced length. Top line good, and well-balanced hindquarters, not quite the movement of the bitch CC, but on another day placements for top honours could be different Res CC.

Special Lure coursing bitch

1 Quinton Kilbourne Marie Claire at Kirjojax, nicely proportioned bitch of good length, again the lock down has done her well.  She moved around the ring happily.

 Veteran Bitch 2-2

1 Morton & Morgan, Ch Cotherstone Islay Mist Nine years young, in fantastic form, one of the best movers of the day. She is balanced all though, covering the ground moving and standing. She was pulled out in the veteran group, well done.

2 Seymour-Jackson Cassacre Aelfrida of Gilltan. Wow, this lady is twelve years old what a credit to her owner. Pleasant shape and form.
